Op het IPOS congres in Dublin dit jaar waren tal van interessante onderzoeksprojecten met een verscheidenheid aan topics vanuit verschillende landen vertegenwoordigd.
Op het Internationaal Psycho-Oncologie Congres van 2016 (IPOS) werden een heel aantal onderzoeksprojecten voorgesteld van over de hele wereld met betrekking tot de psychosociale oncologie. Ook het CHi stelde haar onderzoek over de professionele levenskwaliteit bij Vlaamse zorgverleners in de oncologie voor.

Studies suggest that American Muslim women underutilize mammography. While religion has a strong influence upon Muslim health behaviors, scant research has examined how religion-related beliefs inform Muslim women's intention for mammography. Our study identifies and examines such beliefs.
The Cancer Rehabilitation Evaluation System (CARES) is a quality of life (QOL) and needs assessment instrument of US origin that was developed in the 90’s. Since November 2012 the copyright and user fee were abolished and the instrument became publicly available the present study aims to reinvestigate the psychometric properties of the CARES for the Flemish population in Belgium.

Little is known about the trajectory of health and well-being from before to after a cancer diagnosis. This study aimed to examine changes in health and well-being across three time points (0–2 years before a cancer diagnosis, 0–2 years post-diagnosis and 2–4 years post-diagnosis) in individuals receiving a new cancer diagnosis, and at matched time points in a cancer-free comparison group.

Elke vrouw heeft het risico om eierstokkanker te ontwikkelen, de op een na meest voorkomende gynaecologische kanker. Een kanker die stil toeslaat: door de vage symptomen en het gebrek aan een screeningsmethode wordt de ziekte helaas vaak pas in een laat stadium ontdekt. Net zoals bij andere kankers geldt echter ook voor eierstokkanker: hoe vroeger de diagnose, hoe groter de kans op genezing.

The main aim was to investigate the development of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) and symptoms of anxiety and depression in a cohort diagnosed with cancer during adolescence from shortly after up to 10 years after diagnosis.
Methods
Participants (n = 61) completed the SF-36 and the HADS shortly; six, 12, and 18 months; and two, three, four, and 10 years (n = 28) after diagnosis. Polynomial change trajectories were used to model development.
