Artikel: 'Women's recovery experiences after breast cancer reconstruction surgery.' (2011)

Many women with early-stage breast cancer choose breast reconstruction following mastectomy with the goal to improve physical and psychological quality of life. Breast reconstruction procedures vary in surgical complexity, types of postsurgical complications, and time to recovery, all of which can affect a women's well-being. Although there is a growing body of literature on the satisfaction with aesthetic outcomes following breast reconstruction, there is little research addressing the recovery process.

Artikel: 'Psychosocial adjustment and marital intimacy among partners of patients with breast cancer: A comparison study with partners of healthy women'. (2013)

This cross-sectional study investigated the psychosocial adjustment of 70 partners of patients with breast cancer by comparing their emotional adjustment and quality of life (QoL) with 70 partners of women without cancer. Artikel: 'Risk and predictors of attempted and completed suicide in patients with hematological malignancies.' (2014)

Hematological malignancies can cause high levels of distress, but few studies have assessed risk of suicidal behavior among these patients.

Methods: We evaluated risk of attempted and completed suicide in a cohort of 46,309 patients diagnosed with malignant lymphoma, myeloma and leukemia in Sweden 1992 to 2009 and 107,736 cancer-free subjects, using Poisson regression.

Artikel: 'Exploring psychological responses to genetic testing for Lynch Syndrome within the family context.' (2014)

Genetic testing for hereditary cancer susceptibility syndromes is a family-centered process. Nonetheless, little research has explored how the family context affects psychological responses to genetic testing. We examine how personal test results and the test results of immediate and extended family members shape responses to genetic testing.

Posttraumatic growth (PTG) encompasses an individual's perception of positive personal changes as a consequence of a traumatic incident. The current study tested a theoretical model of PTG with the inclusion of resilience in the context of cancer survivors.

Methods: Members of a prostate cancer support network were invited to complete a cross-sectional mail survey (N = 514, 52.8% response; mean age 70.17 years, and time since diagnosis 7.5 years).

Artikel: 'Cross-sectional study of patient-reported neurobehavioral problems following hematopoietic stem cell transplant and health-related quality of life.' (2014)

Although hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) patients may experience neurocognitive impairment, experiences of neurobehavioralproblems (including apathy and disinhibition) are understudied. These experiences reflect behavioral signs and symptoms of neurological dysfunction that can potentially reduce health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Understanding them is important because they may be confused with other diagnoses, including depression, potentially leading to inappropriate treatments.
